I was wondering what is the best approach for managing items that have multiple pieces in the package?
- Let’s say I have 2 items with 10 pieces in each package. I mark that item as having quantity of 2 and mark their expiry date (considering it’s the same expiry for both). If it has different expiry dates I just create a new category for that item with the different expiry, correct?
- Then when I want to open one of the items and mark it as open, if this item has a quantity of 2 with the same expiry date? How do I do this correctly? Right now I created a subcategory “Open” so I just relocate the item I opened to the “open” subcategory and mark the open date. Is this the best approach or am I missing something?
- Next, when I’m almost done with this item (lets say there’s only 1 piece left inside the package that were 10 pieces), there’s no way to mark it as low stock automatically, because minimum quantity option is for the whole item, not for the pieces inside the item?
- Another issue related to that is that when I take the last item off the package, and I reduce the remaining amount to 0, the item quantity automatically reduced and the open date and expiry date is removed? But, I still didn’t finish it, I just took the last piece and wanted to mark it as empty, but it automatically considers it as done. Am I missing something here? I want it to still show me the open and expiry dates, just with 0 remaining amount, and when I finish this last piece, I can just remove it or decrease the amount myself.
