I am trying to create a recipe and there is no option for cups in the amount section. Why?
Hi,
good catch, and sorry for the trouble. You didn’t miss a setting: cups genuinely weren’t there. The app only knew grams, kilos, litres, millilitres and a handful of imperial units, and a cup was not among them, so there was
nothing to pick.
That’s fixed and at least live in the WebApp (https://www.pantrist.app). Reload the app and you’ll find cup in the unit dropdown next to the amount when you add an ingredient.
I expect to publish this in the native apps as well in the next week.
Two things that came along with it and might be useful to you:
- Set your unit system. Under Settings there’s now a “Used system of units” option. Switch it to Imperial (Pound & Gallon) and the imperial units move to the top of every unit list, so you stop scrolling past kilos and litres.
- New installs in the US get this automatically, but since your account already existed you’ll need to set it once yourself.
Fractions look right. Half a cup shows as ½ cup rather than 0.5, and the same goes for quarters and thirds.
One more thing worth knowing if you import recipes from websites: cups now survive the import instead of being converted into something approximate. The recipe keeps saying what the original said.
Thanks for reporting it. It was a real gap, and it wouldn’t have been found without you.
Kind regards
Nico
